Card Information Replacement Technology^sm (CIRT)

As electronic payments take place, Cardholder Data (CHD) is gathered in order to process these transactions. This sensitive data is the lifeblood of the payments industry, and must be diligently protected against theft and loss. As a minimum standard created to help defend against breaches and data theft, merchants must abide by Payment Card Industry (PCI) mandates on how sensitive CHD must be protected, stored and accessed.
