Our business is your business. Making sure that your data is safe and accessible at all times is critical to your success and ours, which is why our entire solution is designed for maximum redundancy, scalability and accessibility. We believe that your gateway should be there whenever and wherever you need it. That's why we make certain that DOLLARS ON THE NET is up and running all day, every day in every time zone in the world. For over three years, DOLLARS ON THE NET has performed at or above 99.99% availability and that’s thanks in large part to:
Redundant Data Centers
Shift4 maintains two different extremely secure and fully monitored data
centers in the Southern Nevada area. These data centers are on separate
portions of the power grid and have different communications connectivity.
Each data center meets all of the physical security requirements and hardware
and operating system configuration requirements of the National Security
Agencies (NSA) C-2 (Orange Book) recommendations.
Redundant Communications
While Shift4 pays for the connectivity to the various processors, each processor
supplies the type of connectivity, the carrier and the equipment that they
prefer. There are at least two connections to each processor with dial or
ISDN back-up depending on what the processor supports.
Each of Shift4's data centers have at least four T-1 or greater connections to the Internet. Shift4 monitors each customer's connections via each carrier. If issues arise on a particular carrier that could impact performance, DOLLARS ON THE NET can dynamically alter the route to optimize performance. Plus, for high volume accounts, Shift4 offers dedicated connectivity to our data centers via the customer's own Wide Area Network.
Redundant Power
Each of Shift4's data centers have sufficient UPS back-up power to operate
the system for over two hours, as well as diesel powered generators, which
automatically stand-in should there be a power grid failure.
Redundant Equipment
Each function within the system (Internet communications, DNS, Internet
servers, SQL servers, transaction engines and processor connectivity) is
supported by multiple computers. Should any single computer fail, without
interruption, others will automatically and seamlessly take over the function.
Redundant Networks
All of the computers within the system have connectivity to two 1 GB Ethernet
networks and associated hubs and switches. Should a hub or a switch on the
network fail, the system will remain operational.
24 Hour Automated Monitoring
All of the functions of the system are monitored redundantly. Should any
system fail, the operator is immediately informed. Shift4 operators know
that a communications carrier or a processor is having a problem usually
before the carrier or processor does.
Comprehensive Logging
All issues with every system, communications carrier and processor are logged
for a permanent record to be later evaluated to improve performance of the
system. This includes transaction times for each transaction and the aggregate
of transactions for a given processor.
Assured Delivery
Shift4 has provided an “Application Layer” assured delivery
protocol, which guarantees that all transactions get through while making
sure that duplicate transactions are not sent because of problems with the
Internet.
